There are many gardens & nurseries within a few minutes’ drive from Dalblair, which offer many bargains for the discerning gardener. Instead of mail ordering, why not come and visit the growers themselves. This way you can be assured of your plants being in excellent condition when you purchase them.
Each year the Dandenong’s hosts numerous garden festivals. Ask you host for more information, but here are a few of our favourites.
Upper Yarra Valley Garden SchemeFive cool-climate gardens, showcasing their owners’ gardening expertise and enthusiasm, will be open on both days from 10 am – 5 pm. Entry $15 for all gardens or $5 for just one. Discounted price of $12 for groups of 10 or more. Children free. Proceeds to local CFA and SES. Refreshments available at some gardens. Dalblair (Open Garden Scheme Australia)A wonderful large garden with many rare and exotic plantings, meandering pathways feature throughout a myriad of cottage garden rooms. A large rose garden featuring species roses in beds of particular colour. A woodland garden under large European trees is a delight to behold. Visit the large vegetable garden and orchard with free range hens and peacocks….
